The women who saved baby Moses: a male tyrant, the power of sisterhood and the first righteous gentiles

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The Hebrew for hero means literally 'manly,' but in resisting Pharaoh an unlikely female coalition saved the Hebrew babies. Using feminist theory, traditional and modern commentaries, we'll learn about opposing tyranny and Biblical notions of gender. This tale was the inspiration for the righteous Dutch gentiles who saved my wife's family in the Holocaust, and their story will be told.
