The feminist movement is a modern phenomenon, and the Jewish feminist movement is newer still, coming into tension with the basic patriarchic structure of monotheistic faith. We can find the roots of feminism, however, even in the Torah. We will explore these roots and see how they lead us to contemporary issues.

For the last decade, Yael has worked as a group facilitator in various programmes that deal with Israeli and Jewish identity. She is a social activist in the fields of religion and state relations, feminist Judaism and liberal politics. She lives in Jerusalem and loves it.
